About the COOL Committee

In 2001, the Williamstown Board of Selectman passed a resolution to join the Cities for Climate Protection Campaign. In doing so, they committed local government, businesses, institutions and the residents of Williamstown to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.A greenhouse gas inventory (completed in 2002) found that in 2000, Williamstown released 116,117 tons of CO2. Williamstown has set a goal of reducing its emissions to 10% below 2000 levels by 2010. In order to achieve this goal, 11,612 tons of CO2 will need to be reduced by 2010. Reaching the goal will require action from every part of the Williamstown community, including residents, businesses, and institutions. The COOL committee is a group of volunteers from Williamstown who work to implement the town’s Climate Action Plan. Current members are listed below. Anybody interested in working with the COOL committee should feel free to contact a committee member.
